      FAQs

What is a narrow push button switch used for?

It's a standard request-to-exit or door-release button sized to mount on narrow-stile aluminum door framing, letting someone press it to trigger an electric strike, maglock, or exit device rather than using a key or card. It's the everyday-use counterpart to PDQ's emergency-focused mushroom button.

How is the narrow push button different from the mushroom push button?

The narrow push button is a flush, standard-sized button for routine request-to-exit and door-release use, while the mushroom push button is an oversized dome designed specifically for emergency egress where speed and ease of activation under stress matter more. Use the narrow button for everyday access control, not as an emergency release.

What's the difference between the narrow push button and the wide push button?

The narrow push button is sized for narrow-stile aluminum storefront doors, while the wide push button is built for wider door stiles such as hollow metal doors. Match the button to your door's stile width so the faceplate fits the trim correctly.

Is the narrow push button momentary or maintained?

It's available in both: momentary (81320-6MT), where pressing the button gives a brief contact pulse that springs back, and maintained (81320-6MM), where the button stays engaged until pressed again. Momentary is the typical choice for request-to-exit release cycles.

What material is the narrow push button made of?

It has a stainless steel faceplate built for durability on frequently used commercial entrances, and its cylinder-compatible mounting allows integration into the same narrow-stile trim used for PDQ's narrow key switch.
