What's the difference between PDQ's SX lock and the GT/XGT cylindrical locks?
SX is also Grade 1 certified, but it uses a CQ ball-knob rather than a lever and carries a 5-year limited warranty versus GT's 25-year and XGT's lifetime coverage. It's built on a steel chassis manufactured in Taiwan, making it a lower-cost Grade 1 option where lever trim isn't required.
Is the SX lock ADA compliant?
No, its round ball-knob trim doesn't meet ADA/ICC A117.1 operable-parts requirements, which call for hardware operable without tight grasping or twisting. Specify SX only where knob hardware is code-permitted, such as certain interior or non-egress doors.
What door prep does SX fit, and can it retrofit an existing door?
SX is built for standard 160 or 161 cylindrical lock prep with 2-3/8" or 2-3/4" backset options, so it drops into most existing commercial door cutouts as a retrofit replacement for worn knob locks.
