FAQs
What is an electric strike, and how does it work with a cylindrical lock?
An electric strike replaces the standard door frame strike plate with one that has a movable keeper, letting an access control system release the latch electrically without retracting it at the lock itself. The 85001 is sized and shaped specifically to accept the latch geometry of PDQ cylindrical locks rather than a mortise lock's larger throw.
Which PDQ locks is the 85001 compatible with?
Is the 85001 fail-safe or fail-secure?
It's field-changeable between fail-secure and fail-safe, so the same strike body can be reconfigured on-site rather than ordering a separate unit for each mode. Fail-secure keeps the door latched on power loss; fail-safe releases the keeper.
What voltage and current does the 85001 need?
The 85001 runs on 12-24VDC, drawing 0.28A at 12VDC or 0.14A at 24VDC. Running it at 24VDC roughly halves current draw, which matters when multiple strikes share one power supply circuit.
How durable is the 85001 for a high-traffic door?
PDQ factory-tests the 85001 to 1,000,000 cycles, making it suited to doors with frequent daily electric release, such as office suite entries or interior access-controlled corridors paired with a cylindrical lock.
