      FAQs

What is the ISMC wire harness used for?

It's a pre-assembled, plug-and-play cable that connects an electrified lock's Molex connector to a pinned ASSA connector, letting installers make a clean power and signal connection without field-terminating individual wires. It's used for wiring runs that don't need to flex through a door hinge, unlike PDQ's EPT.

What's the difference between the wire harness and the electric power transfer (EPT)?

The wire harness is a stationary, pre-terminated pigtail connector for point-to-point wiring, while the EPT is specifically designed to route power through a door's hinge point so it can withstand continuous door-swing flex. Use the wire harness for connections within the frame or junction box, not for carrying power across the hinge into the door itself.

What lengths does the wire harness come in?

      It's available in five lengths: ISMC-6 (6 inches), ISMC-38 (38 inches), ISMC-44 (44 inches), ISMC-50 (50 inches), and ISMC-192 (192 inches), covering everything from a short jumper to a long frame-to-power-supply run.

What PDQ products does the wire harness work with?

It's designed to connect with PDQ's electrified hardware, including the MR199 electrified mortise lock, GT199 electrified cylindrical lock, 6W99 electrified exit device trim, alarm kit, and motorized latch retraction unit.

Why use a pre-made wire harness instead of hard-wiring connections in the field?

A pre-made harness reduces installation time because the connectors are already terminated, so installers just plug the Molex end into the lock hardware and the ASSA-pinned end into the mating connector rather than stripping and crimping wire on site. It also makes future disconnection easier for maintenance or lock replacement.
