      FAQs

What's the difference between PDQ's 4EW trim and the 6W trim?

The 4EW is a lever escutcheon built for PDQ's 4200 series exit devices, a narrower-profile chassis line than the 6300 series the 6W pairs with. Despite the "wide escutcheon" name, 4EW is sized for wide stile 4200 doors, use it only with 4200 series devices, not 6300/6400 hardware.

Can the 4EW be installed on a door that previously had different trim?

Yes, the 4EW escutcheon is designed to cover existing door prep and mounting holes, so it can retrofit onto a wide stile 4200 series door without new drilling. This makes it a common replacement option when upgrading older exit device trim.

      Is the 4EW ADA compliant?

Yes, the 4EW is ADA and ICC/ANSI A117.1 compliant because it's lever-operated, allowing it to be used with a closed fist without grasping, pinching, or twisting, appropriate for entrances on an accessible route.

Which exit devices does the 4EW pair with?

The 4EW pairs with PDQ's 4200 series exit devices in wide stile configurations, specifically the rim and surface vertical rod versions. It is not designed for the 6300/6400 series wide-stile chassis, which use the 6W trim instead.

What finish options are available for the 4EW?

The 4EW is available in two finishes (dark oxidized satin bronze (613E) and satin chromium (626)), with a Philadelphia lever design shown in current documentation, a simpler finish palette than the wider-stile 6-series trims.
