What is a dummy exit device, and why would a door need non-functioning panic hardware?
A dummy exit device is a push bar with no latching mechanism; it's used on the inactive leaf of a pair of doors, where the active leaf carries a real panic device and this leaf is meant to stay closed and normally locked. It gives that leaf a matching push/pull appearance without adding a second working latch.
Does the 6300D provide any fire or panic protection?
No, it's a non-functioning push bar with no UL 305 panic listing or fire-door rating, since it doesn't latch or unlatch anything. Its included dogging kit lets the bar be locked down in the retracted position for push/pull-only operation when the leaf needs to stay passive rather than closed.
What door sizes and stile widths fit the 6300D?
Standard widths are 24", 36", and 48" for doors 1-3/4" to 2" thick, with a 3" minimum stile width, narrower than the 3-1/2" minimum on PDQ's functioning 6300R, since there's no rim latch chassis to house.
Is the 6300D ADA compliant?
Yes, it complies with ADA and ICC/ANSI A117.1 requirements for accessible and usable buildings, and it's a non-handed design, so the same part fits either side of a pair without a handing order.
Can the 6300D be dogged open, and are all sizes the same?
Dogging is standard on the 24" and larger sizes but not offered on the 24" device specifically, confirm size before specifying if hold-open dogging is required. An optional request-to-exit/signal switch is also available for monitoring the leaf's position.
