What does "interconnected" mean on the CLS lock, and why would a building need it?
An interconnected lock mechanically links a deadbolt and a latch so a single motion retracts both at once, which many multifamily and commercial building codes require for one-motion egress. CLS adds electronic credentials (RFID, PIN, and smartphone), to that interconnected chassis, so a door gets both code-required simultaneous deadbolt/latch retraction and keyless entry in one unit.
Is the CLS interconnected lock rated for exterior doors?
No, CLS is designed for indoor use only, unlike PDQ's KMS deadbolt, which offers an optional outdoor IPX5 rating. CLS is intended for interior multifamily and commercial doors where a mechanically interconnected latch/deadbolt is required by code.
What fire rating does the CLS lock carry for labeled openings?
CLS carries a UL/cUL 10C 20-minute fire rating along with ADA and FCC Part 15 compliance, making it usable on rated interior multifamily corridor and unit-entry doors. It operates over BLE 4.2/5.2 with AES 256 encryption in standalone or online mode.
How long does the CLS lock's battery last, and is there a wired power option?
CLS runs on four AA alkaline batteries for up to two years, or it can be powered via an optional 5V DC connection for installations that prefer not to swap batteries. Battery status and low-battery alerts are built in, along with door obstruction monitoring.
What door thickness and backset fit the CLS interconnected lock?
CLS fits doors from 1-3/8" to 1-3/4" thick with an adjustable 2-3/4" backset, and it operates across a wide -20°C to 65°C temperature range for unconditioned interior spaces like stairwells. Keyway options include Conventional, SFIC, High Security, and UL437 for the mechanical override.
