FAQs
What is an interconnected lock, and why use CL instead of a separate deadbolt and lockset?
An interconnected lock combines a latch and deadbolt in one chassis so that turning the inside lever retracts both simultaneously in a single motion, satisfying life-safety codes that require one-motion egress while still giving the door two points of locking. This avoids installing and aligning two separate mortise or cylindrical units on the same door.
What ANSI/BHMA grade is the CL Series rated?
The CL Series is Grade 2 per ANSI/BHMA, positioning it for multi-family housing, hospitality, and light commercial applications rather than the highest-traffic Grade 1 settings.
Is the CL interconnected lock fire rated?
Yes, it's UL/cUL 10C listed for 3-hour fire doors on single doors up to 4' x 8'.
What door prep does the CL Series require?
CL uses ANSI/BHMA A156.115 door prep and is field-selectable for either 4" or 5-1/2" hole centers, letting the same lock retrofit into existing door preps without ordering a different configuration.
Can the CL interconnected lock match my building's PDQ cylindrical locks?
Yes, the CL Series is designed to be compatible with PDQ's SD cylindrical lock series so lever style and finish can stay consistent throughout a building that mixes interconnected and standard cylindrical locks.
What keying and warranty options does the CL Series offer?
CL accepts a 6 or 7-pin Best SFIC-compatible interchangeable core or a conventional 6-pin cylinder keyed to 5 pins, with the SCC keyway standard, and is backed by a 2-year limited warranty.
