FAQs
What is rose trim, and how is it different from a full escutcheon like the 6W?
Rose trim (6S) uses a smaller circular trim plate around the lever rather than a full rectangular escutcheon plate, giving a lighter, more minimal look on the door face. It's designed to fit standard 161-prepped doors using through-bolts, making it an option when a smaller-profile trim is preferred over the wider 6W escutcheon.
Does the 6S work with narrow stile 6400 exit devices?
No, the 6S is built for PDQ's wide stile 6300 series exit devices (including rim, surface vertical rod, and concealed vertical rod configurations), and is not compatible with the narrow stile 6400 series.
Is the 6S rose trim ADA compliant?
Yes, the 6S is ADA and ICC/ANSI A117.1 compliant since it's operated by a lever rather than a knob, meeting accessible-route requirements for door hardware that doesn't require tight grasping or twisting.
What lever styles and finishes are available for the 6S?
The 6S is available in three lever designs (Philadelphia, Boston, and Miami), and six finishes, including satin chromium (626), flat black (622), and dark oxidized satin bronze (613E), with four function options to choose from.
When would a specifier choose 6S rose trim over the 6W wide escutcheon?
A specifier would choose the 6S when a smaller, lighter-duty trim profile fits the design intent better than a full escutcheon plate, such as doors already prepped with a standard 161 through-bolt pattern, or projects prioritizing a more minimal hardware aesthetic on a wide stile 6300 exit device.
