How PDQ Hardware Secured Carhartt's Global Headquarters Expansion
Carhartt needed room to grow, literally. The Dearborn, Michigan-based, family-owned workwear brand launched an extensive expansion of its global headquarters, to make room for innovation research and product development. PDQ's MR Series mortise locks and GT Series cylindrical locks now secure entry and common-area doors; 6300 Series exit devices and trims, including motorized-latch-retraction models, cover exterior and interior fire doors; and 7100 Series door closers and flat goods round out the package throughout the expanded campus.
About Carhartt
Founded by Hamilton Carhartt in 1899, Carhartt is a family-owned, US-based clothing company. The firm started with two sewing machines and five workers making long-lasting clothing for manual workers, under the slogan "Honest value for an honest dollar."
The Challenge
Carhartt's Dearborn headquarters had to expand to keep up with its company growth. "The campus was expanded to provide adequate space for innovation research and product development," said Linda Hubbard, Carhartt's president and chief operating officer at the time, calling it "essential to producing durable, premium apparel for the country's hardest workers." That meant specifying hardware across the headquarters campus without losing the durability the Carhartt name is built on.
The Solution
PDQ was proud to be the hardware of choice throughout the expanded campus. The specified package included:
Carhartt's expanded Dearborn headquarters opened with a single coordinated PDQ hardware standard across entry, common-area, and fire-rated openings built for a growing corporate campus with high daily foot traffic.
