How PDQ Outfitted It's Own Brand New Headquarters
By 2017, PDQ had outgrown its 48,000-square-foot manufacturing facility in Leola, PA, so much so that most of its commercial hardware inventory was sitting in off-site warehouses. In 2018, PDQ consolidated manufacturing and administrative functions into a new 80,000-square-foot facility in Lancaster, PA, adding a showroom, expanded warehouse space, an expanded keying department, and a state-of-the-art test lab. Every piece of hardware in the building is a PDQ product: MR Series mortise locks, XGT/GT/GP/SD/SF Series cylindrical locks, CL Series interconnected and TJ Series tubular locks, KM Series deadbolts, 6300 Series exit devices, trims, and mullions, 7100/5500/5300/5100 Series door closers, hinges, and flat goods. The new facility making itself PDQ's proudest and largest ongoing demonstration of its own product line.
About the property
PDQ Manufacturing has made commercial-grade door hardware for over 40 years, designed and assembled in the USA. Its Lancaster, PA facility now serves as its headquarters, manufacturing plant, and product showroom in one location.
The Challenge
By 2017, PDQ had outgrown its 48,000-square-foot manufacturing facility in Leola, PA. The company was so space-constrained that most of its commercial hardware inventory had to sit in off-site warehouses, a workaround that added friction to the same fast fulfillment PDQ promises its own customers.
The Solution
It was very important that every piece of hardware in the new 80,000=square-foot headquarters be a PDQ product, spanning the full catalog:
PDQ's new Lancaster headquarters consolidated manufacturing, administrative, and warehouse functions into one building, while outfitting every single opening with its own product line. It is the ultimate case study and a testament to PDQ quality, affordability and availability. Furthermore, it's the most direct proof PDQ has that it uses what it sells.
