About the property

 Cadillac Lofts is more than a new apartment building, it's a catalyst for community rebirth in downtown Cadillac, with its greatest benefit being its impact on local industry and its ability to attract new talent to the city. As the first new-construction apartment building in the city since 2005, and the first mixed-use development of its kind for Downtown Cadillac in decades, the property activates its entire block and sets a precedent for future development in the community. 

The Challenge

 The project's apartment entry doors were designed as RFID-operated openings, which typically call for standard cylindrical locks paired with electric strikes. Electric strikes require a wired connection to the building's fire alarm system, adding installation complexity, labor, and cost. The ownership group wanted a way to deliver the same RFID entry functionality across the building's apartment units while simplifying installation and controlling costs on the project.

Sourcing all five product categories from one manufacturer let the project team standardize on a single key system across the property rather than reconciling hardware from multiple vendors room type by room type, and gave Hyatt's brand-standards review one consistent hardware package to approve.
